Day 8 (5-19-11)

Today during our devotion in the morning we went to our break out groups and the construction coordinators learned about dry walling and then a lady named Jennifer taught us how to build porches and decks and the ends and outs of materials for those type of projects. We did this until lunch where I shared my testimony today (I may blog about my testimony at some point during the summer but who knows.). It was really cool to put into words the story of my faith and to share that with the people I'm going to be working with this summer, and just for me to see the progression of my relationship with Christ. After lunch we went on a home visit to Ms. Tatum's house to do the assessment process that proceeds the actual home repair. We met her grandson DJ who was a very energetic little three year old who was an excellent dancer and very loving with his hugs and hair kisses that sounded like a little click. We then tried to do another home visit but were unsuccessful. After all this we went back into hashing out our theme and the different programming days. We had a lot of confusion for lack of a better word putting into days what we wanted to accomplish with our original Ask, Seek, Knock theme, which led us to a possibility of breaking down the Lord's prayer every day as a potential theme but we came back to the original Ask, seek, knock, and decided to use the Lord's prayer in our daily morning devotions. It was cool to actually start seeing some progress with the week coming together as it is. For dinner tonight we ate at Bowen Methodist and on the way there we saw two Mormon's on bikes and invited them their names were Elder Gervais and Elder Cullimore I talked to Elder Gervais who's first name was Timothy but it was cool to talk to him. Also the food and fellowship were awesome as there were some local families and then some of the church members/ officials. It really made me think of the verse Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." It was truly christian fellowship and it was awesome all coming from different backgrounds, places, and even faiths.
